The Eppendorf Centrifuge 5430 R is a refrigerated benchtop centrifuge that sits between a microcentrifuge and a multipurpose machine. It reaches 17,500 rpm (30,130 x g) and accepts 12 interchangeable rotors, so one instrument handles 0.2 mL PCR tubes, 1.5/2.0 mL and 5.0 mL tubes, 15 mL and 50 mL conical tubes, and microplates, PCR plates and deepwell plates. Maximum load is 48 x 2.0 mL tubes or 6 x 50 mL conical tubes. Temperature is controlled from -11°C to 40°C. FastTemp pre-cools the chamber before a run, and the ECO shut-off switches the cooling off after 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours without use to save energy overnight. The centrifuge stores up to 50 user-defined programs, with five program keys for routine runs. Automatic rotor recognition and imbalance detection protect the user and the samples, a soft ramp is available for gentle acceleration and braking, and rotor lids close with a quarter turn using Eppendorf QuickLock. The footprint is 38 x 64 cm, with a low 25 cm access height for loading.
